Dear Hirsch Family, I am one of the Roswell nurses who had the honor of caring for your lovely daughter...I recently moved to Southern CA and am working on a Pediatric Oncology and Bone Marrow Transplant unit.  I still think of Jacquie often and her will to live especially as I watch these young patients fighting for there chance to live.  I am curious to know if you have ever thought of expanding the Jacquie Hirsch For ALL Foundation to the other side of the United States.  I work with a phenomenal transplant team who happened to not only be happily married but whom themselves have first hand knowledge for she herself is fighting the battle and winning. I will leave my email address if you ever do consider the idea, in the mean time know that your family is in my prayers and that your daughters fight will live on until we find the cure.

Sunny days seem to hurt the most
Wear the pain like a heavy coat
I feel you everywhere I go
See your smile, I see your face
I hear you laughing in the rain
Still can't believe your gone

Im starting running again...hopefully you carry me through NYC races like you did in Tennessee!

Just wanted to share another inspiring story of a young person who BELIEVES in winning the fight against cancer. It's people like Seun and Jacquie who will keep the fight alive:

what a beautiful meet this past weekend sharon and torry.  a perfect tribute to beautiful jacquie.  all who participated really won something...

Huer - 2010-01-28 16:20:46
Hi!!

The meet last weekend was WONDERFUL!! Domenica smiled the whole time we were at dinner afterwards...it amazes me how a 9 year old wasn't just excited for her first level 4 meet but that she was excited to be at the JACQUIE MEMORIAL Meet again!! She is 9 years old and she knows how special it is...Everytime I walk into the gym I smile because I was lucky enough to be one of Jacquie's closest friends and I knew first hand how wonderful she is!! The gym does Jacquie proud everyday not just at the meets but everytime a little girl or boy is playing around enjoying life!! So don't question if Jacquie is proud of the way you are celebrating her life and honoring who she was...I know she is!!

See you Sunday!!

xoxo

TJ - Congratulations on your new website!  It's amazing, and another example of what your love for your sister can inspire.  Congrats to Matt also.  I heard the good news on TV this evening and am thrilled for your entire family.  How exciting for all of you.  Sharon, please continue to share your thoughts of Jacquie with everyone who has had the pleasure and great joy of knowing your beautiful daughter.  Her spirit lives on in you, Tory and TJ, and what an incredible spirit it is.  You continue to amaze everyone with your strength and courage.  Please say a prayer for a dear friend - Olivia, who like Jacquie, is much too young to be fighting for her life against an insidious disease.  God bless all 4 Hirsch's.

Sharon, Torey and T.J.,
You have done an amazing job in carrying on Jacquie's wish to help others suffering with cancer.  To raise $70,000 for research is an incredible accomplishment and I don't doubt you will continue to accomplish great things, inspired by your beautiful daughter and sister.
Just want you to know how often we still think of Jacquie and all of you.
Your Hope Lodge friends,
Cathy and Owen

THINKING OF ALL OF YOU---ALWAYS!!!!!!

TJ,
The website is beautiful!  You have outdone yourself once again!
I am quite certain that Jacquie is smiling down on you with amazement as to how you have done it all without "your secretary".  Ha!  And yet you have not only done it for her, but you have done it with her...every step of the way.

Love,
Jen

Hi Hirsch Family,
My mom told me that she saw all of you at the check ceremony at Roswell. I can't even tell you how proud I am of all of you. It is such a huge accomplishment to raise that amount of money and to donate it to such a worthy cause. I can only imagine what good things are to come.  I miss you all.

Love,
Liz

Wow! another $20,000 dollars towards finding a cure, what an amazing tribute to Jacquie.  I'll be thinking of all of you during the ceremony.

missy - 2010-01-12 10:37:16
Dear Sharon, I hope and pray, with all my heart, that you will see what a gift from God you are to your family and to all of your friends. You have the ability to touch peoples hearts, way down, deep inside of them, where the hurt lives. You touch their heart, with a kindness that is so pure, so real. I know this because you have done this for me. I will be forever grateful. Jacquie was a beautiful gift in every way, shape and form. She continues to be and will never be forgotten. As I pray for my little angels each day, I picture Jacquie surrounded by a dozen of heavens littlest angels ...all smiling while she is reading to them.  Please know I am always here for you. I think of you and your strength A LOT, And that gives me strength. Its so hard sometimes. Know you are always in my prayers .  Clapping Praying Believing Missy

Hi Hirsch Family....

Words can't express how good it was to see you all over the break.  It was a long awaited visit for me... just being inside your home comforts me as I see Jacquie in everything you do and everything you are ~ we are all so lucky to have Jacquie to inspire us to do unimagniable things every day.  Likewise, she is so lucky to have 3 of the most dedicated, kind-hearted, give-back, selfless, strong, family members that clearly love Jacquie beyond words and beyond life.

Thank you for accepting my donation, wishing me luck for the marathon on the website, and the 'thank you' in the newsletter.  I am so blessed to be a part of such an incredible foundation.

Always loving & missing you all...
Nikki

Sharon,  no one is ever going to forget about jacquie and everything you do for her is going to be successful and is going to mean the world to her. You do an amazing job and should never doubt yourself or anything that you do.

everyday people ask me about my jacquie bracelet, i love getting to talk about her. Last weekend I was dropping off food at a table when someone asked me if i was wearing a jacquie bracelet, I was so excited! The man's daughter was a patient with Jacquie! and then next day my grandma and I went to roswell and dontated blood (and this time i didnt have to breath into a paper bag!)

Just wanted to let you know that I am always thinking of you guys and that you mean the world to me.

Love you,

<3Whitney

Sharon, have no fear, Jacquie and her brave and courageous battle will NEVER be forgotten.  I don't think there will come a time when people stop coming to things in her memory.  She was simply that amazing.  She continues to inspire me daily and I know I'm not the only one.  There is NO way she could ever be forgotten.

We ALL love and miss her.  Hang in there...

"The work goes on, the cause endures, the hope still lives, and the dreams NEVER die..."
Jacquie's dreams will continue to come true through her family, friends, and through all of her believers....

Dear Hirsch Family:  I couldn't agree more with Ashley!  Although the postings break my heart and I wish I could take your pain away, I need to visit the website everyday to see Jacquie's smiling face and remember all the "wonderful" times I spent with her!! Just remember we need you & Jacquie as much as you need to stay close to everyone because they're there for you & your family.

Huer - 2010-01-07 08:44:50
Good Morning!

Sharon I couldn't help but to smile when reading your last post.  You wrote about hoping that there is a day when you won't have to lean on your friends and family to get through the tough times...well I think you are stuck with us for life! I think I can speak for many when I say that we NEED you guys just as much as you need us.  If I didn't get a text here or there from you and Torey reminding me that Jax is smiling down or that you guys are always there for me too...I may not make it through the days!  At our last ciao bella dinner we were all talking about how important it is to have friends, not just because you need people to laugh with but because you need people to help you get through the rough days.  I think we will ALL always be there for each other, and that is the way Jax would have wanted it! She wouldn't want us to go through this alone.   You have tons of support to share the good memories and the bad ones with!!

Love you!!!

xoxo

Good night Jax. I love you.

Hirsch,

One of my client's sisters passed away on New Years Eve. Hers is another family that will be hurting for the years to come due to this horrible disease.  I know you're up there watching over her and spreading your beautiful smile.

This foundation is doing wonderful things to help with this fight and will keep on BELIEVING and fighting...

My thoughts are with you guys always...

- 2010-01-06 14:28:12
Love and miss you always, Jac.  I hope that you are proud of me.

Ellen Schaefer - 2010-01-05 10:53:07
Wishing you all the strength to  continue all your wonderful fund raising in Jacquie's honor.  You always were great at motivating your students..remember one foot in front of the other and push through.

Hirschs,
Before Christmas break I had the pleasure to sub in a first grade classroom for three days.  Well, the special thing about this classroom, (other than being full of wonderful kids) was the class pet.  Now, I never did get to see her because she was hiding during the day under her shavings, but in the cage was a little hampster whos name just happened to be...Tinkerbell.  I knew that it was a sign from Jax the moment I heard the kids talking about her.

I hope you had a wonderful holiday, I know it must have been extremely difficult for you all.  Please know that I am and will continue to pray for you all each and every day.  God bless,
Casey

Dear Sharon, Torey & TJ ~

Although I don't write often, please know that that doesn't mean that you all ~ and especially Jacquie ~ are ever far from my thoughts and prayers...  Whether it's my children peering over my shoulder as I religiously read and am inspired by this beautiful website and happily recognizing that I'm on Jacquie's site... or whether it's proudly passing Fiona's Tinkerbell costume onto her cousin Maxine to wear this past Halloween in honor of Jacquie... or whether it's simply sitting down at night after all the children are finally in bed and glancing over at our Christmas tree to see the beautiful Vera Bradley ornament I bought at last year's fundraiser in honor of Jacquie, I just wanted you to know that your wonderful daughter/sister certainly does inspire so many people... those of us you know and so many more you don't even know... on a daily basis.  No, Sharon, your darling daughter will never be forgotten and, yes, she will ALWAYS be in our hearts and minds...  She was that amazing!!!

All of love ~ Elise, Martin, Quintin, Aidan, Gabriel & Fiona

"It is still so new & all we see is the empty space, but that is not how it is in the landscape of the heart.
There, there is no empty space & she still laughs & grapples with ideas & plans & nods wisely with each of us in turn.
We are proud to have known her.
We are proud to have called her friend."
-Brian Andreas

I recently met a beautiful and intoxicating woman by the name of Holly Parker. She stole my heart. Holly told me Jacquie's story and I wanted to tell you that Jacquie's life still inspires. I will carry her name and her story with me wherever I may roam.

This is a poem of gratitude about the simple pleasures of life.
Jane Kenyon died several years ago of cancer.

Otherwise

Jane Kenyon

I got out of bed
on two strong legs.
It might have been
otherwise. I ate
cereal, sweet
milk, ripe, flawless
peach. It might
have been otherwise.
I took the dog uphill
to the birch wood.
All morning I did
the work I love.

At noon I lay down
with my mate. It might
have been otherwise.
We ate dinner together
at a table with silver
candlesticks. It might
have been otherwise.
I slept in a bed
in a room with paintings
on the walls, and
planned another day
just like this day.
But one day, I know,
it will be otherwise.
